Could robot-civilization be possible?
1) Can robots create civilization?
The answer is simple, nothing closes away from the possibility, that there could be the civilization, what is forming of robots. But is that thing civilization? Does the robot need to recognize their existence, and what means recognition in this case?
Are robots what are left to some planet, and what starting to follow their program and start to create copies of themselves, and make things like cities, but what is following only the linear computer program the civilization? That kind of robot can be created for making the space stations before the crew of spacecraft would enter to some solar system.
If those machines power button has been forgotten in the "on" position, that thing causes that the robots would start to follow their orders. So in that kind of case, the robots would travel a couple of years before the manned craft, and that would give them time to make their job before the crew of the craft would arrive, and then those aliens would leave, and maybe somebody has to forget to shut down those robots. But could those robots turn to the threat?
2) The modern robot factory can operate autonomously, but those factories are not intelligent if we are looking at them from humans.
At this point, we must realize something, that people do not usually realize. Robots are not children. They would not feel anything, and if those robots are left alone, that thing means that they would start to do their duties. And the machine-learning means simply connecting the databases, and this kind of case might be causing that robots could turn dangerous.
But when we are thinking about a thing, what interests some people, and that is a possibility of the star wars. This kind of thing can be happening, when the robots are starting to wait for the crew of the spacecraft, what is not coming. The program of those robots would suggest that there could be troubles with the manned craft. That thing can cause that the robots are starting to create their spacecraft, what they can use for searching the craft, what the artificial intelligence thinks that it's getting in trouble.
So this kind of case would cause that those robots would attack. The thing what would that the robot can be dangerous if it defends itself, and in this case, we must realize that robot can have feelings, or it might have a program, which gives it the ability to emulate feelings. Or it can have automatized systems, which gives it the ability to defend itself against dropping stones or something like that.
3) If robots are creating civilization, they need complicated and sophisticated artificial intelligence. That kind of system guarantees their independent actions.
And are the programs, what emulate feelings be things, what are giving the robots real feelings? So if we are thinking that the sophisticated artificial intelligence is giving the species the ability to recognize and defend itself and its mates. But is the ability to defend itself need real intelligence, and the ability to advance the technology?
At this point, I must say that modern warships are defending themselves, and their highly automatized systems would destroy targets automatically. But those systems are not "intelligent" if we are thinking that intelligence means the ability to create new things. Of course, they are sharp, and if those systems are connected to robot factories, they might make new things, if they have some CAD-drawings and other instructions stored in their database.
4) Ability to defend self doesn't mean that thing is intelligent. Also, ants and other things are defending themselves, and we don't think that those creatures are not probably very intelligent.
But they cannot create anything new. Creating new things is the key element for surviving civilization. So if we are thinking about the possibility that some robots, what are send from another solar system would create the civilization, those robots need very complicated and sophisticated programming, where is involved complicated machine learning.
In this system, the main programming is made beyond light-years and when the robots are arriving they need to complete their programming themselves. They must make decisions about the materials, and other things, like how to benefit them in the construction site, and this scenario the purpose of those robots would build the site for their builders, and then they would be left on that planet.
