New nanomaterial is stopping bullets and other blasts better than kevlar. And it looks like nano-scale knitting or cushion.

The problem with the bulletproof and protective materials is that they are not let the air go through them. That thing makes them uncomfortable if they are used in clothes. When the creators of the materials are making the new type of protection they must realize that all protective materials are not suitable in all places. The worker in the building site needs a different type of protection against the threats than some military operators.

New nanomaterial is stopping bullets and other blasts better than kevlar. And it has a nano-scale knit or cushion-looking structure. And that 3D structure ties pull impact energy more effectively than simple kevlar structure. The material that is used in this armor is free. In the test, the miniature particles shot to material, that is thinner than a human hair. And in bulletproof vests, if multiple layers of that material.

It can create by using kevlar, but also metal or carbon fibers can use in this material. The key element is the 3D structure that pulls the impact energy. The thing that will make the limit for that system is the 3D printing technology.

The same type of armor with carbon fiber or metal structure can use in space and aviation technology.

This new type of armor can make by using kevlar but it can also create by using hybrid material fibers where kevlar is connected with the titanium fibers and cover with a layer, that resists heat. In those cases, the armor is put between the carbon fiber or titanium plates. That kind of armor is suitable for spacecraft and helicopters.

The new bulletproof material can offer protection against high-speed bullets. The structure of the material is visible in the image above this text. Those images are from ScitechDaily.com. The effect of this material bases small cushion where the 3D cubic structure is offering better protection against the bullet than 2D kevlar net.

In bullet-proof vests can be the hybrid material, where the 2D kevlar and this 3D "cushion material" are alternating. The best solution would be covering those cushions with a solid plate that offers protection also against pressure impacts.

That structure will push against those cushions and makes energy to distribute to the larger area. And that solid- but holed material is also offering protection against consumption. The body armor that is lightweight and flexible can be used in bulletproof vests. But it can also hide in normal-looking clothes.

The aerogel, lightest material on Earth

The aerogel, lightest material on Earth

1. There could be many uses for the aerogel

Aerogel is material, which is mostly air. That makes it extremely lightweight, and that makes it addictive material for extremely high buildings. The thing that aerogel would be very light allows making very lightweight structures, and if this material would be like some urethane, it would be easy to transport to the building site.

The lightweight material, what is shaped like Lego bricks are easy to handle. Only one or two men can assembly even big structures, and then those layers can be painted that people don't see inside the house.

2. Aerogel bites can be shaped like Lego-bricks

Then the workers must just cast that material in the form, which allows making customized particles for the structure. The thing, what makes aerogel interesting is that material would let the air go through it, and this allows to make structures, where is always enough air.

But the aerogel can also form in bites, what looks like Lego bricks, and that allows to make structures, which can construct on the place, and then remove after the use. That would be a suitable thing in temporary buildings like some festivals and other happenings like evacuation centers.

3. Aerogel can be used in the heat shields and self-extinguishing materials

The aerogel can also be used in the heat shields of the spacecraft. That structure isolates the surface very effectively from the heat, and this makes it very effective in that kind of things, where is needed effective and lightweight thermo-protection. And if the aerogel bricks are packed in the bags, what is filled with carbon dioxide, that material would be used in structures, what will extinguish themselves.

An idea is that if the bag would burn broken, the carbon dioxide would lead to the fire. Or when the aerogel is casting, the process can make in the carbon dioxide, and then the brick would be covered by the isolating latex, what keeps the carbon dioxide in the material.

4. Aerogel can be used for bulletproof vests and military vehicles extra-armor

The cellular structure of aerogel makes it really interesting material because hollows in the structure make it elastic, and that would cause that this material would endure strikes. Because it is lightweight and breathing, it is suitable material for the bulletproof vests, and this makes them interesting also for military use.

But also tanks and other things can cover or even made by using this material. The lightweight form makes possible to put extra-armor on the outer layer of military vehicles, which increases their survivability against anti-tank weapons. Some of those aerogels are biodegradable, which makes them ecological solutions. There are many films on the Internet about this material, so you can see them on YouTube.
