About extraordinary solutions for rescuing from the space

In history have been introduced interesting ideas about rescue vehicles, what would save lives of the astronauts. And one of the most interesting versions of those ideas is the shield, what was planned to use for protecting astronauts, while they were landing through the atmosphere when their spacecraft has been destroyed.

The plans have consisted of the plate type shield, which would be equipped with similar handlebars, which are used in water scooters. The astronaut would keep touch with the handlebars while returning through the atmosphere. When the speed is low enough the parachute can be opened, and the astronaut can land like a paratrooper.  And in some ideas, this shield would be equipped with propellers, what can use as well as the stabilization equipment, in theory, that system would replace parachutes.

The propellers can load the batteries of that flying machine, and then astronaut can use it as the miniaturized flying machine. That copter would carry that person to the inhabited zone, and the technology is similar to quadcopters. But that system would be used in the cases, where stuff or astronauts would return from the orbiter.  The use of propellers is a very interesting thing because they can be used to reload the batteries of the shield, and that helps with the communication.

But the holes of those propellers can be equipped with similar hatches, what are used in cameras. That structure can be used to control the flight of that device. But when we are thinking of another very interesting way to rescue the crew of the spacecraft, the simplest way is to fill the parachute of the Apollo-type spacecraft with a hydrogen balloon.

The next technology is created for the project called HAVOC (High Altitude Venus Operational Concept). The idea would be to use clean energy, which would be stable also in the dark side of the planet. And that technology would be used in any situations. So it could be used in "cloud cities" of Venus atmosphere.

The thing is that those large-scale laboratories could also be used in the Earth atmosphere. The system could base the capillary tube, which pulls air through the generator. And then the tubes, what are curved downward, would keep the structure floating. But there is also the possibility to use lighter-than-air concepts.

That system can fill the balloon with hydrogen by using the electrolysis of the water, and then the balloon would put in the parachute. Then the craft would rise to the air, and it can fly to rescue ships with propellers. But another way would be using the long tube, which would drop down to the module. Then the vacuum would cause air thrust, what will carry this thing in any direction, what would be ordered.

Under the craft would install the turning tube and the airflow will go through that structure. It can also rotate the generator for making electricity for that craft. That kind of motorized balloons can someday operate also in the atmosphere of the gas planets, and collect data from those strange words. But this kind of systems is some kind of futurologist thoughts.

NASA plans to build the RTG-powered drone, what will operate inside Titan-moon atmosphere

Titan moon is a very extraordinary moon in our solar system because it's the thick atmosphere and weak gravity, which makes it really interesting because it should not have that atmosphere. And that would make that moon a very good target for nuclear-powered quadcopter, what can operate in its atmosphere even years.

The thing is that the normal quadcopter can handle that mission, but the problem is the huge distance. That makes impossible to control that drone directly from the Earth. The system that uses artificial intelligence must have very powerful computers, and this makes that kind of mission very difficult to accomplish. The system should have the capacity for independent and autonomous operations.

In some scenarios even more sophisticated and effective systems would follow this Titan probe. Those systems would base the technology, which is created to HAVOC (High Altitude Venus Operational Concept) -program. In this version, the high- altitude airship communicates with the drones, what are flying near the surface of Titan or Venus. The system can use "green energy" and in some scenarios, the system would transmit the electricity to the drone swarm by using maser-transmitters.

This kind of systems is really difficult to create because there is no time and room for mistakes. And this makes the creation of this kind of systems and especially required computer programs really complicated. In some scenarios, this kind of systems has central component, what would operate as the central processing unit, and the other drones, what is simpler and smaller.

The idea is that those sub-drones can dive in the oceans of Titan and observe the world, what is totally different than our own. In fact in the future to the other planets would send the drone swarms, where simpler drones would create the data network by using modems. The swarm of small quadcopters can cover larger areas than single drones, and the swarm can lose a single drone, and it can still continue the mission.

And in this case, other parts of nuclear-powered drones can wait in high-altitude, and that high-altitude swarm can send the replacement units to the swarm, what operates in low altitude for replacing the destroyed parts of the swarm. Those drones could be similar quadcopters, what is tested in the military areas. They can operate by using small size plutonium-batteries, and they can operate in the atmosphere of other planets a very long time.

Airships can be really fast if they are made by using modern materials. 

Many people think that airships are always slow and easy to damage, but this thing is not actually true. The modern materials like carbon fibers and other things can allow creating the modern hybrid airship, which would be a very interesting tool for the research and intelligence missions. The thing is that the carbon-fiber layers would allow creating the concept, what would be revolutionary.

 In history, there were planned to create the hybrid airship, what would be launched from the submarine torpedo tubes, and those miniature zeppelins would able to search the enemy territory. One thing about the structure of those things would be that the instrument gondola and the motors would be like they would be pulled in during the carrying, and they can be released from the submarines.

Inside that body would be symmetrical ball-shaped tanks for hydrogen, and those carbon fiber balls allow that the airship can fly extremely high altitude. But is there a possibility, that the airship can fly supersonic. When we are thinking about the hybrid airship, that would be equipped with the rocket or even the ramjet or scramjet engine, that cigar-shaped hybrid airship can fly in the supersonic or hypersonic speed.

The airship-type structure would allow the interplanetary travel

The thing is that on the back of the airship would be the small rocket engine and the sides of that will be the propellers, what would make electricity for the systems of that futuristic airship. I once read one very interesting article about the big size interplanetary spacecraft, which would have the shape like Zeppelin. During the space trip that device and the gas tank would operate as the cabin, that would give the space for the crew.

And when that spacecraft would close the planet or its target the main cabin can be filled with water, and then the system would separate the hydrogen from oxygen by using electrolyze. That would allow creating the very big and fast spacecraft, what can operate in the atmosphere of some planet.

That kind of structures allows use the green energy, and if the capillary tube would be dropped to the lower atmosphere of the planet, that tube can suck the gas through the motor, what would allow very long term operating in the atmosphere of that planet. This kind of systems would be created for the HAVOC and another kind of concepts.

HAVOC (High Altitude Venus Operational Concept) can be manned or unmanned

There are two versions of the systems like HAVOC. Another thing would be manned concept, but the more interesting in the point of view of research would be sending the artificial intelligent HAVOC concept to research the atmosphere of the Venus planet. That concept might have sub-drones, what it can send to collect the samples from the surface. Those drones would be like normal quadcopters, what have the sample handling equipment, and they can bring samples from the surface to the flying laboratory.

The HAVOC concept is actually the plan for sending unmanned flying laboratory to the atmosphere of planet Venus. And those experiences would be used in the next generation missions to travel in the atmospheres of giant gas planets like Saturn and Neptune. That mission, what would be true in the future would be working as the testbed for artificial intelligence and robots, what can use in the longer distances, where the signal travels a couple of hours.

The military operational model

One of the most interesting vision is that the airships would offer rooms for the computer systems, which would offer computer assistance for the ground troops if they need more computer power. Those systems can be used to control the drone swarms by using artificial intelligence.

But the thing is that those airships can operate as the flying command centers, where the commanding officers can watch the situation. And of course, those airships can use the cruise missiles, intelligence equipment or more exotic weapon systems like flechette or laser weapons.

The sub drones can be devastating weapons

The quadcopters would be used to carry explosives, like hollow warheads or the hybrid weapons where the hollow grenade is filled with propane. That will make it very high-class explosive and other high-explosive equipment what it can use against enemy tanks an troops. That airship can float over some area and shoot the incoming aircraft and cruise missiles down from the above.

The systems, what are tested and developed for the HAVOC concept would also operate in the combat zones, where the communication system would be jammed, and the airships would allow the change to operate as the relay station between troops and satellites if the communication will be jammed. But they can also offer very large scale rooms for surgery, and combat zone support systems, what can fly above the combat area and drop the equipment for the troops, when they need ammunition.
