The economy of the future, are we returning to city-states?

The economy of the future, are we returning to city-states?

Is the future of mankind in some kind of megalopolises, the enormous cities, where is living even billions of people, and what is acting as a corporation? The model of this thing has been taken from the special economical areas of China, where lives more people than in most countries in the world. Would that kind of thing, where the entire city turns to a corporation or commune-style company the next economical experiment, what people will face.

Sometimes people are thinking that this kind of model would be the end of the traditional governments, but that is not like that. There would still be the government, but the revenue logic of society is a little bit different than in traditional states. In the idea of megalopolises is that the government would act only in the small area because there are so many people in that place, that the government cannot act in the large areas, and when we are thinking about things like people, people are making economics. The number of people is important when we are creating models for the government.

And if there are very many people in some area, that means that "not wanted" actors can be hidden in the middle of the people. But if we are thinking cities like Shanghai, there are about 24 million people, and in comparison with states like Sweden, there are 10,12 million people in that country. So the population of Shanghai is so high, that there are many nations, where lives fewer people than in that city.

Ruling that the city is very difficult. But what if the population in the world is rising? Are we forced to move to the cities, what are growing over the borders of the countries? Those cities would be something than we ever have seen before. The idea of megalopolises is creating economical models, which seem like a utopia.

But the thing is that the growing population forces us to make things, what we do not make before, and the other thing is that climate chancing causes the cases that people must move to new areas. If we are thinking about the problem of the population, the number of people is not the problem itself, the problem is that the number of people in some areas is so high.

If the EU fails and the macro-economics falls, would we return to the city-states, what is acting like one big economical entirety? In this scenario, the economical independent cities, which are acting like some corporation would replace the traditional governments.

The thing is that this kind of economical entirety is not similar to some medieval or ancient Greek cities, the scale of those cities would be enormous, and there could be living even billions of people in those areas, and the size of those cities would be enormous. In that case, people, who are living in those cities are working like in some kind of commune for creating the products, what they are selling to another city, or would that kind of thing acting as the barter economy.
