Is Medusa some kind of machine, what covers person by using diatoms?
Medusa-robot could turn a person's stone by covering the body by using diatoms. This biotechnical version of this thing is not many times mentioned even in the cases, where the "Medusa" is introduced as an "alien robot". In this case inside the robot could be the bio tanks, where the diatoms are grown, and then the system can simply spit those diatoms over the intruder. This kind of thing could be behind those tales. And remember that characters like Medusa have been changed during history.
Could we someday create the "Medusa-robot"? This kind of hypothetical systems could simply cover the person by using diatoms. The thing that fascinates me about the mythic creature called "Medusa" is the thing that it could use for making the person stoned, and one answer would be that the Medusa would be some kind of man-looking machine, what would eat food for feeding the diatoms, what are stored inside it.
This kind of robot could be the next-generation version of the thing, which captures people. If the Medusa would spit the diatoms, the organisms that have the silicon layer on the person, what thing turn that individual looking like stone. That kind of system is futuristic, but the spacecraft can install the system, which acts like this hypothetical robot. In the case of an accident the "Medusa"-robot would cover astronauts by using diatoms.
So if the diatoms are covering the human, that thing would turn the target to stone. And if we want to make the long-term spaceflight or just disappear, that thing means that the diatoms could be used to cover the body. And they can feed the traveler, which is connected to the main computer of the spacecraft by using EEG-machine, and that thing makes possible that person, who seems to stoned can communicate the craft and also operate the auxiliary robots. That kind of thing might be the next-generation systems.
