Fusion power and terraforming planets can solve many problems
Fusion power would be the ultimate solution for an energy source to the entire Earth, but the problem is how to control that reaction? If we would want to create the fusion reaction on the Earth, we must compensate for the pressure inside the stars by raising the temperature, and that means that controlling the fusion reaction is extremely dangerous.
In the fusion systems, the most important thing is to deny the plasma, which forms the fusion inside the reactor touching the walls of the reactor. And that thing is possible by using magnets, what is pulling the material in the middle of the reactor.
The problem is that the fusion reactor will deliver too much energy very easily, and this means that it is acting as a hydrogen bomb. So adjusting the fuel pump is very important.
There are two possibilities to make the fusion reactor
1) Closed systems
The closed system means that fusion would happen in the closed chamber, where the energy is collected by using the silicon layer, or the cooling water. The problem is that the energy that is pumped to the reactor must be lower than the level of energy that reactor delivers.
And this is the problem with a self-sustaining fusion reactor. The temperature in the reactor is extremely high, and if it rises too high, the system will melt.
The most effective solution for the closed fusion reactor is the Tokamak-type reactor (1), where plasma rotates in the donut-looking reactor, and that would be the thing, that makes the fusion possible. But there is lots of work to do, before the real commercial solution for this type of fusion reactor is created.
Also, ball-shaped systems have been tested, and in those systems, the hydrogen would pump in the middle of the chamber. Then the pressure and temperature would be risen by using the lasers, microwaves, and magnet fields, which launches fusion.
2) Open systems
The term "open fusion system" means that nuclear fusion will hover on the air or space and it is controlled by using lasers. That system requires an extremely high tower, where is targeted the laser rays. Energy will collect from that system by using solar panels. This kind of system can be created somewhere out of the Earth's atmosphere.
In some models, this system contains the ball-shaped structure, which is made by very thin iron wire. Then the hydrogen ions would be pulled in that structure, and then the radio waves would target in that iron ball. That radiation can be sent by using radio telescopes. Then the ignition laser will point to the middle of the ball, and then the system can create energy.
The ball can be replaced by using a group of laser satellites, and the fusion material will shoot in the middle of the ball, by using ion tracks, and that system can be at the backside of the moon. If that radiation would start to push Moon to Earth the lasers or ion cannons can shoot it away.
2.1) Making artificial sun to the Earth atmosphere would be the worst idea ever.
This system includes one of the "worst ideas ever". In one Stanislaw Lem-book named "Astronauts," the fusion system or artificial sun would be created over Siberia, and that thing would melt the ground frost and the North Pole. The extremely high temperature would raise the temperature in the atmosphere very rapidly.
And that causes the rising air pylon, which will pump the atmosphere away from Earth. Sometimes has been introduced the idea, that the "Tsar Bomba" (2) the most powerful nuclear weapon ever was made for simulating this kind of system. Or that bomb might have many purposes, and one of them might be more than some kind of weapon.
2.2) But it can be used to adjusting the pressure in the atmosphere of Venus. And help to terraform the planets of the red and brown dwarf stars.
Sometimes this kind of system is introduced to make planet Venus more suitable for life. In the atmosphere of Venus would be created this kind of tower, and the fusion reaction starts to create a gas pylon, which would deliver the carbon monoxide to space. The idea is similar to what happens if the "Tsar Bomb" will burn about ten years.
When we are thinking about the distant future and terraformation of planets, we can think that when we would face some kind of super-earth or water planet, we could simply create artificial sun to its atmosphere and start to warm that planet. The extremely high-powerful laser system can be used to adjusting the brightness of the stars like Proxima Centauri and Luhman 16 (3).
2.3) Antimatter laser can adjust the brightness of the even the stars
In this version, the thing that is needed is the antimatter laser. That type of system would create needed radiation by using the annihilation reaction around its laser element. This thing can create an extremely high level of radiation, which means it could affect even the brightness of the stars.
That means that fusion reaction will transform the planets of Proxima Centauri and other red and brown dwarfs to habitable, but that thing could happen in the distant future. In that case, the fusion reactor requires that the energy to that system is created by using nuclear fission.
